Updated: July 5, 2021

Features Of Binge Streaming Service

Binge is one of the newest streaming subscription services in Australia. It was launched in May 2020 by Streamotion – which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Foxtel. As of March 2021, they have more than 500,000 paying subscribers. But you can almost be certain plenty have cancelled along the way as well. If you’re thinking about cancelling your Binge subscriptions as well, keep on reading to find out how.

Steps to cancel your Binge subscription

Step 1 – Choose which way you want to cancel

There are three different ways you can cancel – through a web browser, through the Binge app on your phone, or through the App Store if that’s where you first subscribed to Binge.

Step 2 – Visit your account settings and click cancel

No matter which method you choose, visit the “My Account” and/or “Manage Subscription” pages. From there, click on “Cancel Subscription”. You may be asked to confirm one more time as well.

Step 3 – Complete Binge’s short cancellation survey

Binge is always trying to improve their services, so they’ll ask you why you’re cancelling.

Step 4 – Confirm you’ve cancelled by check your account and email

After you’ve completed the steps above, re-check your account details for the status of your subscription. As well, check your email to see if you’ve received a cancellation confirmation from Binge.

Other ways to cancel

One of Binge’s big features on their streaming platform is just how easiest it is to do everything. It’s intuitive, easy to sign up, easy to find what you’re looking for, and easy to do everything on your own without having to talk to customer service too much. This reduces their staffing costs but also allows you to take full control of your account relatively easily.

As such, the only way to cancel is by following the steps above. If you’re still having trouble or are being charged after you’ve already cancelled, contact them on one of their social media accounts below.

Why do people cancel their Binge subscription

Binge was one of the fastest-growing companies in Australia in 2020, reaching hundreds of thousands of paying customers in just a short few months. Many thanks to their aggressive marketing and content on offer. They were reported to have 10,000 hours of content on launch, doubling to 20,000 in the next 12 months. And despite it now being available on many Smart TVs as well, thousands of people aren’t happy with their subscription – cancelling it to move on to another service.

One of the most common reasons people cancel Binge is that they just don’t see the value in it anymore. They may have already watched Binge’s most famous titles – the ones people mostly sign up for, or they’re just not happy with the new content being brought on. Whichever case it may be, there’s no point in paying for something if you don’t see the value in it.

Another popular reason people cancel is that they recently found out it’s owned by Foxtel. There is a slight undercurrent of Foxtel-haters growing in Australia, with many claiming their services are now a complete rip-off. And once they realise a subscription to Binge is going to Foxtel, they’re not too happy about it anymore and cancel.

Finally, if another streaming service pops up – at a better value and content offering than Binge, they’ll likely cancel and move to the new service as well. This is one of the most popular reasons people cancel their Optus plan and move onto a new one.

Final thoughts

Even though there are hundreds of thousands of happy paying subscribers, sometimes things just change and they realise it’s time to cancel Binge. Following the steps above will guide you through the cancellation process in the quickest possible time.
