Founded in 1991, Myob has been providing businesses with a range of accounting, tax, and other business software to Australian businesses for many years. There’ve been quite a few mergers and acquisitions in the Myob group over the years, which some believe has caused their products offerings to drop in quality. If you think the same, maybe it’s time to cancel Myob and move on to another company.

Steps to cancel Myob in Australia

Step 1 – Login to your account through Myob’s website

Login to Myob using your account details here – https://my.myob.com.au/Pages/Default.aspx

Step 2 – Click on the menu item that says ‘My Products’

Visit the menu and find the button that says ‘My Products’. If you can’t find it, keep on reading below to get in touch with them.

Step 3 – Find which subscription you’d like to cancel and click on it

You’ll find a list of all the products you’re subscribed to here. Go through the list, and click on each one you’d like to cancel.

Step 4 – Click on ‘Cancel Subscription’ for each product you want to cancel

Once you’ve cancelled all your subscriptions, double-check the status to confirm once more. Also, check your email for any cancellation confirmations.

Other ways to cancel

If you’re unable to cancel by logging into your account, feel free to give them a call on 1300 555 111 or +61 1300 555 111 if you’re overseas. You can also visit their support centre here – https://www.myob.com/au/support. One final number you can also try is +61 (0)3 9045 4400.

Unlike Myob, Optus only gives you on option to cancel a plan. Which is why many people move on from their Optus plan to a more freindly telecom company.

If any or all of the above methods still aren’t letting you cancel with Myob, you can always try their social media accounts – links are further down.

Why do people cancel Myob

Once upon a time, Myob was the powerhouse company in the accounting and tax software industry. It’d be highly unlikely to find any tax agent or accountant not familiar with their service. Mainly because they were one of the first in the industry. All that’s gone with the introduction of many new competitors, but that hasn’t stopped them from trying to keep up with the times. It’s not enough for some, though, with many choosing to cancel their subscriptions to Myob for another software package.

One of the most popular reasons people pull the plug on Myob is that there is something better for them available. Most people aren’t loyal to software providers unless they’re receiving exceptional customer service. And with technology changing faster than ever and a consistent influx of new competitors, there are usually better deals always coming around.

Another reason people cancel is that they simply don’t use Myob anymore. No one’s going to be an accountant, business owner, or tax agent for their whole life, and when that time comes, there’s no point in paying for software that you aren’t using anymore.

This is almost the exact same reason many people cancel their memberships to Fitness First – they simply stop going to the gym and don’t have any justification for the monthly membership fee anymore.

Final thoughts

Although Myob does provide a great range of software for tax agents and accountants, sometimes it just isn’t enough. And when that time comes for you, hopefully, the steps above will help you cancel your subscription in no time.
